Main Application Areas

Pharmaceutical Field (Core Application):

Pharmaceutical Solvent/Co-solvent: As a solvent or co-solvent for oral liquids, syrups, and injections, it can significantly improve the solubility of fat-soluble drugs (such as steroid hormones, vitamins, antibiotics) and enhance drug stability (e.g., reducing oxidation and hydrolysis). For example, injections of some poorly soluble drugs require PEG 400 as a solvent (such as certain antineoplastic drugs and analgesics).

Preparation Base: Used as a base or thickener in ointments, creams, and suppositories to adjust the viscosity and spreadability of the preparation (due to its liquid characteristics, it is often combined with high molecular weight PEG to balance hardness and fluidity).

Transdermal Absorption Enhancer: Assists drugs in penetrating the skin barrier, improving the bioavailability of topical administration.

Daily Chemicals and Cosmetics:

As a humectant, solvent, or conditioner, added to skincare products (such as serums, lotions), shampoos, and body washes:

Can dissolve fragrances and active ingredients (such as vitamin C derivatives, plant extracts), preventing ingredient precipitation;

Enhances skin hydration, and due to its small molecular size and moderate penetration ability, it is gentle and non-irritating (suitable for sensitive skin).

Industrial Field:

Used as a plasticizer or leveling agent in coatings and inks to improve film formation and uniformity of products;

Used as a softener and antistatic agent in the textile industry to improve fabric hand feel;

Used as a lubricant in metal processing to reduce friction and wear.

Food Field:

Food-grade PEG 400 can be used as a defoamer and lubricant in food processing (such as candies, baked goods), provided the application amount strictly complies with regulations.
